Registering a domain through Bookmark

You can register a new domain directly from Bookmark.com. This gives you the freedom to choose your own domain name without the bookmark.com subdomain extension, and without the hassle of redirecting a domain from another domain registrar. Using your own domain name, whether you register it from Bookmark or from another registrar, is a Pro membership feature. If you’re currently on a Free plan, you will be asked to upgrade during this process.

Tip: If you choose the Annual Plan, you’ll save 20% per year, plus your Domain is free for one year.

If you haven’t started a website yet, your first step is Choosing your Template. Once you’ve selected your template, you’ll see the SELECT DOMAIN window. Jump back into this guide at Step 4 below.

If you’ve been using a Bookmark subdomain to build your website follow these steps to register a new domain for your site:

Step 1: Go to the Settings tab

Open your website in the builder, and click the Settings option in the left sidebar menu:

Step 2: Select Domain

From the Settings options, choose Domain:

Step 3: Click the Change button

The Settings / Domain page will open. Click the Change button.

Step 4: Register a New Domain

A pop-up window will open with the three domain choices. Click the button for the middle option, Register a new Domain, and type in the domain name that you want.

If you see a green checkmark appear beside your domain name, that domain name is available and you can click Continue.

However, if you see a red circle with a slash through it, this means that the domain name is not available. Try typing in other options until you get a green check mark.

Step 5: Upgrade to a PRO membership

If you’re currently using Bookmark on a free plan, it’s now time to upgrade to Pro. You’ll receive many benefits besides the ability to use your own domain name, like unlimited storage, larger upload capabilities and hosting for up to 15 websites. Save 20% over the course of one year by going with the annual plan, or you can go month by month for only $14.99 right now.

Choose either the Annual Plan or the Monthly Plan, and click the Next button, which you’ll see at the bottom right corner if you scroll the page down.

Step 6: Complete the Domain Registration Form

Choose the term you’d like to register your domain for (1 year, 2 years or 5 years) and fill out the Registration Details. Click Next when finished.

Step 7: Complete the Payment

The final step is to complete the payment.

Your new domain is now registered.

Step 8: Publish your Website

If your website was already published to the world before you changed your domain, you’ll need to publish it again to update it to your new domain name. Just open your site in the builder, and click the Publish button:
