How to add social media buttons

The Social module allows you to add and configure social media buttons for 12 different platforms on any web page.

Before we begin: Have you checked out the Focus feature? Focus provides you with a set of 20 beautiful and functional web page sections designed in the style of your template that you can add with a single click, including a Video focus!

The Social Focus attractively showcases your social media buttons by adding a large title bar, and text areas above and to the side of the buttons. It’s all customizable, so you can tweak it to your liking.

To check out Focus, click the Focus tab in the left sidebar, and then click Add Focus and scroll through the options.

If you just want to add social media buttons, without the added elements of the Social Focus, follow these steps to social media buttons to your page:

Step 1: Open the target page

In the website builder, open the page of your site that you want to add the social media buttons to.

Step 2: Open the Modules tab

In the left sidebar menu, click on Modules:

Step 3: Locate the social module icon

In the Modules sidebar, scroll down to see the Social module icon.

Step 4: Click and drag the social module icon onto your page

Point your mouse at the social module, click and drag it onto your page to where you want the social media buttons to be located. Then drop it.

As you drag it around the page, you will see black lines appear, indicating the edges of the existing elements on the page. Use these lines as guides help you drop your social module in the right place. You can add spacers or other elements later to adjust its position if desired.

For this example, we will add social media buttons to the About page in the Elenore Designs template, beside the map we added in the guide How to add a map.

Below you can see the social module before it was dropped, hovering over the page. The black line indicates the edge of the spacer module that we added under the text box to allow us to position the social media buttons in line with the bottom edge of the map. When the social module is dropped now, it will insert below the line, between the spacers.

Step 5: Link to your social media accounts

Your new social module is added to your page. The top four social media platforms are shown by default, but you can customize this below.

Tip: To move the video module around, including removing it to the trash can, click the thick black grab bar in the center-top and drag it.

Click the module to open the options bar below it, and then click the Settings icon:

The settings box will open. Here you can check the boxes beside the social media buttons you want to include, and link them to your accounts. The top four are linked to Bookmark’s social media accounts as examples. You will want to change these to link to your own accounts.

Step 6: Social module formatting options

Once you’ve linked to your social media accounts, you might want to change how the buttons appear on your page. Click inside the text box to open the format options bar again.

Here’s a closer look at the options bar.

Here’s a brief description of each of these options:

Align left - aligns the buttons to the left side of the block

Align center - aligns the buttons to the center of the block

Align right - aligns the buttons to the right side of the block

Settings - clicking this icon opens the settings box, as shown in Step 5.

Button Style - choices are colored, or monochromatic (black and white)

Form - choices are square or rounded buttons

Size - choices are Smallest, Small, Medium or Large

  Padding

Padding is the amount of white space around your video. Your padding options are: None, Small, Medium or Large.

Step 7: Saving the changes

Once you have finished with your social media buttons, remember to click the Save button at the bottom center of the modules sidebar to save and protect your changes.
