Bookmark’s templates are designed to provide you with the typical pages most websites use, such as Home, About, Contact Us, Bio, Projects, and so on, depending on the template you’ve chosen.
However, we know that to truly make your website as unique as you are, you might wish to build on our templates to reflect your own vision. With this in mind, all of our multi-page templates allow you to add extra pages to your site and move pages within your site using a simple drag-and-drop interface.
This Guide will show you:
How to Add pages
How to Move Pages
How to Duplicate pages
How to Delete Pages
Here’s how to add a new, blank page to your website in Bookmark’s website builder.
In the left sidebar of the website builder click the Pages tab to open it.
Now you will see the current navigation tree for your website in the left sidebar. For this example, we are looking at the Pages of the Elenore Designs template.
Here’s how the pages appear in the navigation menu, which is displayed across the top of the page for this template:
When you click the + Add Page button, the Create Page Settings window opens:
Let’s go through the items on this page:
Page Name - this is the title of the page as it will appear on your website in the navigation menu.
Page Link - this is the readable portion of the URL for the page that the website builder will use in making the page URL. It should be short, in lower case, and should not include accented characters or spaces. It must be unique, to specifically identify this page in the website code. For example, if your new page name is “Added Page”, the page link could be “added-page”.
Delete this page - this button is here for when this page is used for changing the page settings. You can ignore it when adding a page (unless you’ve changed your mind about the new page).
The Advanced Settings allow you to set a Page Title and Page Description for browser windows and search engine optimization. You can fill these out later by clicking the edit button (pen icon) next to the page in the left sidebar.
On the Create Page Setting page, fill in the Page Name and Page Link, and then click the Save Settings button in the lower right corner. For this example, we used Added Page for the Page Name, and added-page for the Page Link. (You will want to use a better page name that describes the purpose of your new page.)
The builder will open your new page. It will be just the template background image, no modules or content.
Your new page name is added to the left sidebar, and to the navigation menu.
You can move your new page to another position on the menu by clicking and dragging it in the left sidebar area. More on that in the next section on how to Move Pages.
Bookmark’s drag-and-drop Pages area makes it amazingly simple to move pages around in your website.
When you hover your mouse over a page title in the Pages area on the left sidebar, you will see the move icon with four arrows appear:
This means that the page title is ready to be selected. Click to select it. Now you can drag it up or down the list and drop it where you want its new location to be.
Let’s do some examples together:
Example 1: How to change the order of the pages in your main Navigation menu
In this example, let’s move the new page “Added Page” to a new location between “About Us” and “Projects”, as indicated by the arrow in the image below.
We hover and click on Added Page to select it.
The image below is a screenshot taken before dropping the page into its new location. You can see the grabbed page is ready to be added (dropped) between the two target pages. Make sure that you are dropping it in line with the other pages in the menu (directly below). As we’ll see in the next example, if the page is dropped further to the right, it will become added as a sub-page.
After dropping it, the page is now located between About Us and Projects, both in the left sidebar and in the navigation menu in your website as seen in the builder window.
Just like that you have moved the page to a new position in your website’s navigation menu.
In this example, we want to take a new page we’ve added, and make it a sub-page of an existing menu choice.
The method is the same as above - grab the page, and drag it, only this time we want to drop it a little below and to the right of the page you want it to be a sub-page of.
Drag your page until you see a new vertical line appear under the page you want to add your sub-page to. Like this:
The new vertical line indicates the sub-branch of the page tree that the page will occupy once you drop it.
Once you’ve dropped the page your navigation tree will look like this:
In your website, if you hover your mouse over the Project's title in your navigation menu, you will see Added Page appear in a pop-up menu below it.
You may add as many sub-pages as you wish using the same method.
Sometimes you want to add pages that have the same structure (contain the same design elements) of an existing page, but with customized content. For example, your business offers several services, and you want a separate page for each one and don’t want to have to build each page from scratch.
That’s where duplicate pages come in handy. Bookmark allows you to painlessly duplicate an existing page, move it to where you want it in the navigation by drag-and-drop, and then customize it.
Let’s do it!
You’ve probably noticed the +Duplicate Page button just under the +Add Page button at the bottom of the left sidebar in the Pages tab of the website builder:
Before you click this button, STOP!
The first step is to select the page you want to duplicate. For this example, we’ll duplicate the Projects page to make a Proposals page.
Go to the page that you want to copy, by clicking it in the left sidebar of the Pages tab. You will see the page displayed in the builder window, and in the left sidebar menu the page name will be highlighted, and show the edit & delete icons.
Now you can click the Duplicate Page button!
Clicking the Duplicate Page button opens the Duplicate Page window:
The builder creates a dummy page name and link, but you should change it to what you want your page name to be. Remember, the Page Name is what is going to display on your website in the navigation menu. In our example, as you may remember, we are making a duplicate page for Proposals, so we’ll change the Name and Link to reflect that.
When you’re finished with your page name and link, click Save Settings.
You duplicate page has been created and added to your site. Now it’s up to you to move it to where you want it in your navigation, and customize the content or design in whatever way you wish.
In this example, it makes sense to place the new Proposals page between Projects and Teams:
You can now go and customize the Proposals page how you like.
Deleting a page of your website is extremely easy to do. Be careful!
In the Pages tab, select the page you want to delete by clicking its title. In this example, we are going to delete the page “Proposals”.
When you have selected a page, the edit and delete icons appear to the right hand of the page name. To delete a page, click on the X icon.
A confirmation box will appear in the top center of the page in the website builder window.
To confirm that you want to delete the page, click OK. (To cancel, and keep the page, click Cancel.)
Your website will refresh in the builder, and the deleted page will no longer exist.
