adding an external page to a single page site

but i don't want the pages to show up in the navigation bar. i only want them to be accessible via the hyper link from the images

What you are describing it completely possible - just not as a single page design. you would need to use multiple pages. We have the ability to hide pages in the nav bar so that they are never seen, which gives the appearance of a single page.
